This 8-week oil painting course is for the budding artist to the professional looking to tweak their techniques or enhance their own personal style. Bring a photograph of a flower, landscape or sunset, that you would like to reproduce on canvas. (No portrait painting in this session). Rhonda will help you develop your own style as you create your painting. Enjoy this 3-hour class as you explore your subject, palette set-up, color mixing, composition, lighting, and shadow as well as brushwork. Some supplies will be included such as basic paint colors, easels, odorless paint thinner, paper towels. Plan to bring your own brushes, paint palette, a light lunch and a drink and get ready to have fun and express yourself with oil paint!
About the instructor: Rhonda Polen Wernick has worked as a graphic artist, advertising manager, and painting teacher. She has two books published on how to paint and has demonstrated painting techniques at many trade shows for companies such as Tulip, Grumbacher, among others. Rhonda has taught oil painting at Gordon JCC for over fifteen years and co-founded Art on the West Side, which she is very passionate about.
